A few things you might like to know
One of the most amazing things about our little Oasis we feel is that we are totally off the grid. We want you to have an amazing experience with us and enjoy all that the Archipelago has to offer, below is (we think) some helpful information.
As mentioned we generate our own electricity through Solar power that is stored in a bank of batteries, day to day you wouldn’t even realize that we are not hooked up to the power grid. All our light bulbs are LED and we have Solar friendly appliances so power is not an issue day today. However, there are some things that we would ask you to be mindful of when staying with us so that we can all enjoy the cooling fans through the night and have a light when you need it. Little things like turning the fan off in your room when you go out on an evening, for example, help us all, Items with a heating element are not Solar friendly and can drain the batteries quite quickly, so we kindly ask that guests do no bring/use items such as hairdryers, hot irons etc, instead enjoy the natural rainwater to wash your hair and let it dry in the warm Caribbean Breeze.
USB outlets are provided in each room for your convenience
Our water is collected from the rain and is held in tanks and then filtered on its way to your room, for pure drinking water we have an additional 2 stage system in our kitchen that then passes through a UV light to provide a great drink. Chilled drinking water is provided in each room daily. As we do rely on the rain, we are grateful to those guests who appreciate the off the grid aspects or hour home and are mindful of water conservation.
The Beach and Ocean
We couldn’t be any closer or have better views of the Beach & Ocean, the beach is 3 kilometres long and is great for those long walks and beachcombing.
One of the cool things about the beach is that it is a protected beach, Turtles make their migration here to lay their eggs and as such entering the beach after dark (usually around 6:30) is prohibited unless you are accompanied by one of the turtle preservation officials (when in season for the turtles), we can set up a night time walk to see the Turtles when they are nesting.
The second cool things about the beach is that it is world-renowned in the Surfing community for how difficult it is and so can attract some of the top surfers from around the world to take on the challenge. When the surf is up then it can be dangerous to swim due to riptides, however, there are a number of times where the sea is tranquil-lo and the swimming is wonderful then (however everyone should always respect the power of the sea and keep safety top of mind)
Being off the grid we do not have Air Conditioning, however, we do have whisper-quiet Hunter fans in each room that will keep you nice and cool throughout your night’s sleep.
Our rooms are designed for two people and as such our resort is not suitable for younger children. Anyone aged 13 and over are more than welcome
At Oasis you will find a loving dog (‘Lucky’) and our new addition and Lucky’s new best friend.. Jack and may also see our cat from time to time (‘Doc’) who help to keep us critter-free 🙂 However we are sorry but we do not allow other pets to stay at Oasis.
We accept Visa, MasterCard and Amex as a deposit, however, credit card charges may be applied to the balance and so Cash is preferred when settling your account.
In and around Bocas, Credit cards are accepted in some shops and restaurants but many restaurants only accept cash
There are two ATMs, both located at our only bank on the island in Bocas Town
To set you up for the day, breakfast is served family-style at 8:30 table side. At Breakfast, you will enjoy Fresh Smoothies, Yoghurt, Fresh Fruit and eggs to order… oh and freshly brewed Tea and Coffee.
Bluff Beach has a small number of charming restaurants and bars, for even more choice in the evenings you can hop on the local bus or grab a taxi to go into Bocas Town for a wide selection of cuisines
Getting into Bocas Town
We are approximately 7 kilometres from Bocas town and the airport. It’s a quick 20-minute ride, either by small local bus or by taxi. The local bus stops running around 6:30 but taxis run all evening. We are happy to call a taxi for you if needed
Getting from the Airport
We can arrange for someone to meet you at the airport (and take you back at the end of your vacation) the cost is $15 per taxi, however, if you make your reservation directly through our website then we will discount your taxi to only $10 each way. Be sure to request this and share your flight details when you make your booking.
WiFi & Cellphones
Your cellphone may not work out at Bluff Beach, we do however have complimentary WiFi throughout the property and so would suggest using this along with popular apps such as Skype, Whatsapp, etc.
Please no-smoking in your suite or public areas. Under Panama Law it is illegal to smoke in public areas. There is a $250 charge for refreshing the room if you smoke in the room.
